Snowplow Spotlight: Jen Hubert

Jen Hubert – Technical Customer Success Manager

How would you describe what you do in a nutshell?

I help our Enterprise customers get the most value out of their Snowplow subscription by training data and analytics teams on Snowplow technology, working collaboratively on designing a data strategy, and assisting hands-on with technical work to bring their behavioral data initiatives to fruition.

What does an average day look like for you?

I am based in the U.S., so I usually spend the first half of my day in customer and company meetings, and the second half of my day following up from calls, prepping for sessions and doing more concentrated technical work. Some weeks there is more business work, and others there is more technical work — I really enjoy the mix!

How did you get to do what you are doing?

I actually started out working for non-profit organizations where my work gravitated towards building reporting and managing databases out of pure need. In the meantime, I did my undergrad in economics and started a masters (but never finished). After the non-profit work, I was in analytics-related roles for years, starting out as a business analyst and moving up to a director level. Because I’ve always been somewhere in between building analytics and explaining them, the Technical Customer Success Manager role at Snowplow was a great fit!

How does working for Snowplow compare to previous roles?

From a workplace perspective, I appreciate that Snowplow has a company-wide culture of constantly evaluating the existing process or technology and looking for ways to improve it. In my role, this lends itself to being able to learn from the greats and advance my own skills. It also gives me remit to look for ways to improve the process in my own work and to improve our customers’ experience. I don’t think it’s particularly easy to find a place to work that allows their team to make such an impact, which I really appreciate about working at Snowplow.

What has kept you motivated throughout the pandemic and lockdown?

I have had to find new things to occupy my day, including my personal initiative to get at least 10,000 steps a day (it takes a lot of time!). I also realized I need to have a long-running show to watch that I can delve into outside of work to have something to look forward to. Right now I am rewatching Mad Men, and I plan to start The Sopranos for the first time after I’m done.

How do you make the most out of remote working?

Because I need some base level of socialization, I like to try to chat up some of my coworkers during the day since my time with them is so limited. I also like to move about around the house to keep my environment changing at least a little bit. If I’m feeling really special, I will go out and buy some coffee mostly to get out of the house.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

In my work life, I am really looking forward to seeing how much we grow as a business in 2021, and I look forward to seeing how much our tooling transforms, especially as it relates to data modeling! In my personal life, the vaccine! I will feel a big relief when the vaccine is more widespread and I can go about doing more normal stuff without putting anyone at risk.
