Introducing the Snowplow public roadmap

We are delighted to launch our public roadmap, with the aim of giving more visibility of what we are working on at Snowplow, what we are planning on working on next, and giving you, the community, the opportunity to be a part of this.

Why a public roadmap?

Over the past 12 months, we have published a number of changes to our product, and the response from the community has been hugely positive.

But at the same time, we often get the feedback that you weren’t aware we were working on those features, as well as questions such as ‘what’s coming up next?’ and ‘when is that likely to ship?’.

It has become increasingly obvious to us that we need to provide more transparency around our roadmap, hence the launch of the Snowplow public roadmap. With this, our objectives are three-fold:

  1. Provide more information about what we are working on and what’s ahead;
  2. Provide more transparency over what we are prioritising and why;
  3. Improve the roadmap by providing a space for the community to provide feedback.

The Snowplow public roadmap

The Snowplow roadmap can be found in the snowplow/snowplow repository on github. You will find that the board is split into 4 columns:

  • Live: self-explanatory!
  • In development: we are working on it.
  • Next: we are planning to work on this in the next 3-6 months.
  • Later: we would like to do this at some point but don’t yet have concrete plans.

Each ticket links to a corresponding GitHub Issue which describes the roadmap item and offers you the ability to drop a 👍 and add any additional comments or thoughts you have. Each item will also make it clear which components the change will affect and upon release, exactly which versions the change occurred in.

Some features on the roadmap will be available for Insights customers only, and these are labelled as such:

The roadmap won’t cover everything that we are planning on working on, but it will cover the most important aspects that we think will be of interest to you, the community. Also note that the roadmap is indicative only and things can (and almost certainly will) change! But we do plan to update this regularly so that you are always able to get the latest on our product plans.

At Snowplow, our community is at the heart of everything we do. We can’t wait to share what’s in store for Snowplow over the coming months and we would love you to be a part of it.
If you’re new to Snowplow, and would like to get familiar with our platform, feel free to check us out on GitHub or perhaps try Snowplow for yourself.
