Black Business Month

For Black Business Month, we’re sharing our favourite Black owned businesses.

Ash says: Jamaica Patty Co – My favourite street food has always been a Jamaican patty, if you’ve never had one – imagine a crumbly savoury pastry, filled with a variety of seasoned fillings – think Jerk chicken, spicy beef, Ackee & Saltfish or just lovely vegetables. They do a great job of keeping it authentic, but have upgraded their branding compared to what you’ll see in other Caribbean takeaways. They’re owned by a nice Jamaican woman and her husband, and their daughters are often the people serving you. They have two branches, one in Piccadilly and one brand new one outside Liverpool St station.

Nick says: Where I dabble in photography as a hobby, my mate J has gone one step further: he’s an independent freelance photographer based in London and available for hire. Friendship aside, the man has skill. As with any artist, J has his own creative take on things, his “eye” if you will. But don’t take my word for it, let his photos paint the words for you.

Mackenzie says: My good friend, Aarica, has a vintage clothing shop, based in Dallas, Texas. I have known her for about 11 years, (met her when she was a design major in college) and have been able to see her grow and gain an incredible following. She is kind, humble and I absolutely love seeing her crush it by doing what she loves.
